Sierra came to us in Valley Center in 2003, rescued from a Canadian auction. She is a red roan draft cross mare, very
sweet and kind. She has deep, liquid eyes that exude love. Sierra always enjoyed humans from the start. She loved being brushed
and pampered.
She is a strong introvert. Sierra requires lots of attention and soft slow training process. She is 16HH
and weighs about 1048 lbs. Even at the age of 5 she has retained her sweet innocence. She often romps and squeals like
a foal when she is happy.
Sierra holds her emotions very deep and doesn't often display them. She is docile and is at the bottom of the herd
pecking order.
Sierra has been healthy, except for a slight club foot which has improved over time and with proper hoofcare. She was
forced into a fence post during Santa Ana winds in 2007 and tore open her left shoulder. The vet quickly stitched her
up and she healed well. However, she does have a scar. The injury has not hampered her ability to run and play with the other
horses in open pasture.
Sierra will need a special home where she is given a lot of individual attention, loved and spoiled. She would be very
lonely without other horses around to interact with. When left alone she can become withdrawn. Keeping her stimulated is healthy
for her. She is quite affectionate when given total attention by her handler.
She is a beautiful girl and we are hoping for the right match for her soon. We wish to train her under saddle before
the end of the year.
